Kathy’s Camp for Kids Update

2008 has been a wonderful year for Kathy’s Camp for Kids. The process of starting a nonprofit has been a definite learning experience but a rewarding experience at the same time. I am quite happy to let everyone know that Kathy’s Camp for Kids has done quite well in 2008! We have been able to form some wonderful partnerships that have helped to advance our organization and our mission. The community has embraced our cause and their generosity has led to financial support that will allow us to succeed in 2009.

While fundraising efforts are ongoing we are now shifting gears and are focusing our efforts on finding the children that we aim to serve. We need your help in spreading the word about our organization and the services we want to provide. Yes…our day camps are continuing. We are more than willing to plan more days each month as the demand increases. We would ask for your help in finding those families that could be helped by our organization. As you think about who you might know please remember.

1. The children don’t have to have a parent in active treatment.

2. A parent can be years past treatment and the kids will still qualify for our services.

3. The kids don’t have to attend every event and participation is always voluntary.

4. The person with cancer may actually be a primary caregiver and not necessarily a “parent”.

Many people have sent e-mails or contacted us wanting to help. We would love the help and ask that you all help us spread the word. We do have brochures and written material available for distribution. Please e-mail us at marc@KathysCamp.org should you have a need for such material.

Thank you all for your ongoing support!
